Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me why i get this error message when I link opengl32.lib and glu32.lib together into a library project. (Note: am not defining __NULL_IMPORT_DESCRIPTOR)

Creating library...

glu32.lib(GLU32.dll) : warning LNK4006: __NULL_IMPORT_DESCRIPTOR already defined in opengl32.lib(OPENGL32.dll); second definition ignored

ComCtl32.Lib(COMCTL32.dll) : warning LNK4006: __NULL_IMPORT_DESCRIPTOR already defined in opengl32.lib(OPENGL32.dll); second definition ignored

Hmmm, I've never seen this before. However a quick search on google shows this answer:

It's probably because you are including static built libraries which have 'Additional dependencies' on the same .libs as other .libs or your .exe

Solution:

Don't put any 'Additional dependencies' .libs in your static libraries. Only add them as 'Additional dependencies' to your .exe. If you are using someone elses library that does that, tell them to stop it.

Hi Marek,

am not using anyones libraries.

Am trying to make a 2d lib with openGl for games.

And I linked in opengl32.lib,glu32.lib and
ComCtl32.Lib into the static library.

I wanted users not to have to link in opengl32.lib and co with their exe if they were to use my lib.

How do I go about achieving that?

Thanks

I don't think you can... (or there is some other reason not to)

I mean, wouldn't glu include opengl (for example) if that was possible?

Oh, I see your point.

But I am making a game lib and if I link the game with the lib, I don't include opengl libs and it seem to work. (However, the game is in the same solution as the game lib. I'll seperate them and see what happens)

I'll be back with more info.

Thanks
